WORLD OUTDOOR TRIPLE jump champion Trecia-Kaye Smith, world indoor 4x400m gold medallist Davian Clarke and his wife Lacena Golding-Clarke, the world's fastest 100m hurdler this season, head Jamaica's 20-member team for next month's World Indoor Championships in Russia.
Smith, who on Thursday night was voted RJR Sports Foundation's Sportswoman of the Year, leads the world with the best jump, 14.75m this season, which is also a national record.
Smith said this year has been going well so far. "I started with a national record of 14.75 and I hope it will continue to go well," she said.
IMPRESSIVE DISPLAYS
"I am one of the contenders again (for gold), but we'll see how it goes."
Golding-Clarke, who ran a world leading time 7.83 seconds in Leipzig two Sundays ago, had another impressive display - 7.87 seconds, the fourth fastest time this season.
In those impressive displays, Golding-Clarke had beaten American world outdoor champion Michelle Perry.
Davian Clarke who anchored Jamaica to the mile relay gold in Hungary, is the ninth fastest person this season with his 46.29 run.
Clarke, Golding-Clarke, Christopher Pinnock, James Beckford, Maurice Wignall, Lansford Davis, Lerone Clarke, Lansford Spence, Ronetta Smith, Novlene Williams, Shellene Williams, Kenia Sinclair and Trecia-Kaye Smith will attend both the World Indoor championships and Commonwealth Games.
The squad: Men: Lerone Clarke, Ricardo Williams, Sanjay Ayre, Lansford Spence, Dwayne Barrett, James Beckford, Maurice Wignall, Christopher Pinnock and Lansford Davis.
Women: Ronetta Smith, Michelle Freeman, Novellene Williams, Shellene Williams, Moya Thompson, Allison Beckford, Kenia Sinclair, Trecia-Kaye Smith and Marshall Dawkins.
