Portmore meet St Thomas in domino semi-finals

By ORVILLE CLARKE, Portmore Star Writer

PORTMORE-BASED CARIBBEAN Classic will oppose Night Shift from St. Thomas in one semi-final of the 2005 J.B. Rum All-Island Division I domino competition tomorrow at G.Q. Domino Club, Liguanea, St. Andrew.

In the other semi-final, another Portmore team, Hurricane, are up against Giants from May Pen in a replay of the 2003 final. This match will be played at Black Rooster Domino Club in McCook's Pen.

Caribbean Classic, who earlier this year won the Portmore Domino League for the third straight year, have lost only once in the J.B. competition. It came against Correctional Services in the first round. However, Classic subsequently avenged that defeat in a rematch and are through to the semi-finals as a result.

Caribbean Classic, from Portmore Lane, are undoubtedly one of the best teams in the competition. But they face a vastly improved team in Night Shift who accounted for the elemination of the highly touted Eradication from Gregory Park in the quarter finals.

Giants are unbeaten under the captaincy of Kenneth 'Foota' Palmer and Hurricane will have to dig deep in order to stop them from reaching the final.
