CARLINGTON SMITH PUMPED in three goals and Roen Nelson added another as the Jamaican pair propelled Joe Public to an attractive 4-0 win over Plipdeco Caroni 4-0 in their Trinidad and Tobago's National Super League mid-week fixture.
Smith netted two first-half goals and another after the break and propelled the champions to their handsome win on Wednesday.
Joe Public took control early and led after 18 minutes when the Caroni goalkeeper Curtis Granger missed a ball floated across the goal.
Nelson collected the ball on the far post and sent a low cross inside to Smith, who struck a low left-footer in the 18th minute.
Joe Public made it 2-0 when Nelson, last year's scoring award winner, latched onto a cross from Abassi McPherson and scored from close range.
Smith struck his second goal three minutes before the half-time break when he turned well on his markers and -- under pressure from hounding defenders -- managed to unleash a low left-footer into the goal.
With a 3-0 advantage at half-time, Joe Public continued to enjoy dominance after the break and sealed the match with a penalty kick converted in the 58th minute by Smith, hitting a firm right-footer into the goal.
In another match, Marlon Warner struck a pair of second half goals to give Crab Connection a 4-1 victory over struggling Media 21 Football Club.
Irving Trim (35th) and Kirston Graham (38th) put Crab Connection into a comfortable 2-0 position at the half, before Warner finished off Media 21 with his twosecond half goals.
Junior Spencer got Media 21s goal in the 63rd minute, before Warner struck his second late in the match.
