In fact, so high is his confidence about thrilling a crowd every time he performs, that he has named himself 'Encore' - a name selected because of his ability to get 'a forward' whenever he performs.
"Mi fraid a boo still so everytime I perform I try to thrill my audience," he said. "Mi feel seh mi a go get one one day still because every artiste get one at one point in a dem career. Look pon Beenie Man. Him get a big one but him come back. So, if I get one I will be back for an encore."
Encore, Clayton Ranger, said he was literally born into music. The deejay from Gregory Park, Portmore, told THE PORTMORE STAR he grew up in a tenement yard where dances were the norm. He said he copied Bounty Killer and other deejays but ultimately developed his own style.
"I have my own style and I have written over 100 songs to date," he said confidently.
Although writing more than 100 songs, Encore's recordings have been fewer. To date he has only recorded four songs. He said the last one 'Womaniser' done on the Jonestown Record label is set to be released shortly. He said another song 'Yardman' has been receiving rotation on radio.
Encore writes songs based on experiences or vibes. Although appearing on one major show, he is making a name for himself at smaller shows in Portmore and the Corporate Area. The response to his songs has been good and he hopes in the next few years he will become a household name.
