Delloreen Ennis-London - File

STANFORD, CALIFORNIA, CMC

JAMAICAN LONG DISTANCE runner Kenia Sinclair was the only Caribbean athlete in winners' row at the Payton Jordan Classic on Monday.

Sinclair, who is world leader in the 800 metres, stepped up to the 1500 metres and was a comfortable winner in the 4: 07.11 minutes while Ehiopia's

Mestawat Tadesse (4:07.95) finished second.

In the men's 100 metres, Jamaican Dwight Thomas continued to impress with yet another top-three finish this season.

Thomas (10.12) was runner-up behind American 200 metres World champion, John Capel who crossed the line in a rapid 10.08 seconds clocking.

In the women's race, St. Vincent and the Grenadines sprinter Natasha Mayers placed fifth in 11.48 seconds in the event which American Olympian and former NCAA 200 metres champion Muna Lee won in 11.16 seconds.

Good form

Jamaican national champion Delloreen Ennis London captured the silver medal in the women's sprint hurdles.

Ennis London checked in at 12.77 seconds behind American Michelle Perry who extended the good form she displayed at the Adidas Classic earlier this month to win in 12.65 seconds.

Trinidad and Tobago's Lejuan Simon captured the bronze medal in the triple jump with a best effort of 16.44 metres, finishing behind American Olympian Kenta Bell (16.93).

In the women's long jump, Bahamian veteran Jackie Edwards leaped 6.54 metres to collect bronze behind winner American Grace Upshaw (6.73) and her team mate Brenna Glenn (6.60).

Trinidadian Candice Scott, who finished a creditable ninth at the Athens Olympics last year, finished with a bronze medal in the hammer with a best effort of 67.95 metres.

Her training partner, American Erin Gilreath, won with a throw of 70.14 metres.
