JAMAICAN NATIONAL TRIPLE jump record holder Trecia Smith continued her impressive early season form when she set another world-leading mark at the South American Grand Prix of Fortaleza on Wednesday.
Smith produced a 14.91 metres effort, her second world-leading mark of the week, eclipsing the 14.62 metres she set at the Rio International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF) grand Prix II on Sunday.
Her teammate Suzette Lee finished second with a best effort of 13.89 metres while Romanian Mariana Solomon was third at 13.84 metres.
Other Caribbean wins came in the women's 200 metres as Cayman Islands Cydonie Mothersill carried on the good form shown earlier in the week to register the win in 22.94 seconds.
In the women's 800 metres, Suriname's three-time Central American and Caribbean (CAC) champion Letitia Vriesde crossed the line in 02.18 seconds for the victory.
Haiti's 2002 CAC sprint hurdles bronze medallist, Nadine Faustin also logged a win in 13.02 seconds in the 100 metres hurdles.
And Jamaica's Pan American games 100 metres champion Michael Frater once again finished runner up for the second time this week behind American Joshua Johnson.
The former student at Texas Christian University was clocked at 10.27 seconds behind Johnson whose winning time was 10.20 seconds.
The athletes now move on to Belém for what promises to be a spectacular IAAF Grand Prix to be held on Sunday.
