'Jungle fantasy' A tame affair

THERE WERE NO 'beasts to unleash' last Friday night as the so called 'Jungle Fantasy' was only a mere fantasy.

When THE STAR team trekked into the venue at approximately 11:43 p.m. it was not the usual Weekenz, as there were only a few cars that lined the outside. Inside the venue was 'light years' away from being packed as there were less than fifteen persons inside. The few just loitered at the bar and watched the selector of Coppershot.

It would have seemed that the promoters, 'Rapid Fire' were affected by one of the deadliest diseases ­ 'Back-to-school-titis'. Some patrons kept on stating that it was because of 'back to school expenses' why the party failed, others said it was because of the previous parties with the same concept such as 'Sinful Passion' and 'Sinful Obsession'.

No showtime

Most patrons were looking out for, as advertised, a sensual erotic contest, fat 'kitty kat' contest, sexiest thong and shortest shorts contest. Up until 1 a.m. there was no sign of a showtime or any sort of 'vibes'. Along with Coppershot, other selectors billed for the show were Passa Passa's number one sound, Swatch International, Razz & Biggy, Kurt Riley and Supa Hype.

At 2:35 a.m. Razz of the duo Razz & Biggy took his turn at the turntable playing a few crowd favorites like Vybz Kartel's version of Milkshake, Beenie Man's King of the Dancehall, T.O.K.'s Solid as a Rock and Black-er's Tek off Something.

The first sign of something that looked like a showtime came at about 2:40 a.m. when Biggy introduced the Finnesse Models showcasing various airbrush body art designs and Imeje Wear. The male models boasted open jackets and pants, while the female models clad in fur bikinis, mini skirts and very short shorts with various stripe colours and painted bare breasts made little efforts to get the attention of the small crowd for about fifteen minutes.

By 2:49 a.m. the few patrons in the venue had found use for the vacant seats. They sat, slept and the few at the bar looked on with disappointment. With efforts to create some 'hype', selector Razz kept on saying "party wi come fi party" without much success.

Among the persons who didn't appear were the selectors Kurt Riley and Supa Hype. There was also no sensual erotic contest, fat kitty kat contest, sexiest thong and shortest shorts contest.

To add insult to injury police officers came inside the venue and ended the show abruptly at 2:58 a.m.
