'No bikiniitis'

THERE WAS A pool, there was music, there was liqour, but bikinis were scarce. On Sunday night, the Olympia Crown Hotel became impaled with a not so friendly illness, 'no-bikini-itis'.

Diehard party fanatics know exactly what this condition is at a pool party. It is an illness where the party has everything on paper which will make it work. A good concept; big bad brand name sound systems like Coppershot and Rennaissance, loads of food and affordable liquor, but just too few people in bikinis to really enjoy the session.

Probably it was the early advertised time which brought on the ailment, as people seem quite timid about leaving their homes on Sunday evenings for parties. Despite the advertised time of 2 p.m., even after 8 hours the numbers were still small.

The 'doctors' on Sunday night tried their best to remedy it. Rennaissance administered lethal doses of Vybz Kartel, Bounty Killer, Assasssin, and other 'medicines' from their turntables but these medicines only worked on those who were already inside. It did not draw many from the outside.

The medicines caused quite a bout of thrashing and twirling for the few women who were inside the pool. With the full effect of gravity being hampered by the water, they could hoist their posteriors and get into certain dancing positions without much difficulty. The men who dared to challenge them could also manouvere themselves well. Just imagine a 100 pound man holding up a 200 pound woman, lifting her to his chest and bouncing her about. That was how easy it was inside the pool.

Nonetheless, bouts of splashing by a few pool fanatics seemed like the high point of the ailing session.

Body painting had to be cut short because of technical glitches, and patrons strolled out in pairs as midnight approached. The promoters did not seem to do anything wrong, but 'no-bikini-itis' just took control of the party.
