'Bad Mind Sundays' the newest session on the block
These two party-goers get down to the rhythm of the music at the recently held 'Bad Mind Sunday'. - Carlington Wilmot JUST WHEN YOU thought there were enough dance sessions to cover every day of the week, along comes another. The freshest and latest session to hit Kingston is called 'Bad Mind Sundays', held in Northside Plaza in Liguanea. For those quick to judge, the name of the session may be misleading, but the theme behind the session was explained recently by one of the main voices behind it, ace selector Tony Matterhorn. According to him, this session is dedicated exclusively to those persons who have faced envy or grudge from the people in their lives. Through the session, they can celebrate the victory they have had over these envious people. During last Wednesday's Passa Passa session, Tony Matterhorn announced the arrival of 'Bad Mind Sundays', and explained it to all those who were there. "Bad Mind Sundays a fi everybody who has had to deal with bad minded people. If yu face any a dem inna yu life, da dance deh a fi yu," he told an ecstatic audience.
Very active
On Sunday, THE STAR team checked out the session held inside the Redlight Sports Bar, and judging by the happenings, the term 'bad mind' seems to be very active. Although the year to year sound system Stone Love was playing, at minutes to 1 a.m. there was still not a huge crowd there. The few there however did not seem to mind, as the celebration was in full gear. Selector Richie Feelings whipped the handful of women into a gyration fest with his hilarious and timely microphone prompts. They grabbed on to a pole at the front of the club and pumped away like exotic dancers but only with their clothes on. They were not shy, and with the camera lights of the local cable station Cableview in their faces they performed even more.
Party wave
To reflect the theme as well as to keep them dancing, Stone Love played carefully. There were no gun tunes. They stuck to dance tunes like 'Football Dance' from Saba Tooth, 'Row Like A Boat' from Beenie Man, 'B... nuh Done' by Vybz Kartel, among others. They then mixed these with the 'bad mind' tunes like Assassin's 'Bad Mind', and Sizzla's 'Live Your Life' on the Rebirth rhythm. The club was not full when THE STAR team left after 1 a.m., but with Richie Feelings announcing Vendetta and other sound systems for next week, the party wave may just sweep across 'Bad Mind Sundays'.
