The decomposing body of the son of late Inspector of Police Lascelles Walsh was found in a river in Craig Hill district on Monday.
Lascelles Walsh Jr. of Craig Hill district, Gordon Town, St. Andrew, was found dead by residents. Police reports are that at 4:15 p.m. residents discovered the body and summoned the police who subsequently retrieved the body and took it for post-mortem examinations. The Gordon Town police are investigating.
Inspector Walsh was shot dead by gunmen as he made his way to work along Port Royal Street in downtown Kingston. He was one of three policemen shot dead in a 12-hour period in 2005.
Man arrested on suspicion of murder
A man has been arrested following the murder of another man in Grandson Park, St. Catherine, on Monday evening.
The police have withheld the name of the man held in custody pending further investigations. Dead is 26-year-old Yatta Kyoun Slew of Grandson Park.
Police reports are that at 7:30 pm, Slew was assisting a neighbour when he was approached by two gunmen who shot him. He died on the spot. The police were summoned and the crime scene processed and the body removed to the morgue for post-mortem examination.
The Spanish Town Police are investigating.
